You’ve Been Eating Avocados Wrong

image
Like most of us, you probably cut your avocado in half, remove the seed, and toss it in the trash, right? Wrong. According to One Green Planet, a site dedicated to all things plant-based, “The seed holds 70 percent of the avocado’s antioxidants, including the well-respected polyphenols associated with green tea.”

Enjoy every part of this nutritious fruit whose healthy fats have been proven to reduce bad cholesterol levels. Cure whatever digestive problems ail you by adding powdered avocado seed to your favorite morning smoothie, sprinkling some of the fibrous seed on top of your overnight oats, or mixing it into your favorite almond butter snack.

Instead of chucking the seed next time you go to add some creamy slices of avocado to your lunch, save the seed, and process the tough pit into a fine powder with your food processor that you can add to just about anything for a little more healthful fiber
